Backing up for the first time with Cloud Backup for Business

Backing up your important business documents and files on you and your colleagues' devices is simple with Currys Cloud Backup for Business.

PC & Mac

When Cloud Backup opens for the first time, you'll be taken through a few intro screens informing you the basics of Cloud Backup and letting you choose where the software is installed (just click Next if you want to use the standard location).

Once you have finished the install wizard, you'll see a calculation of how long it'll take to backup the computer. This will just back up the default folders on your computer (My Documents, Downloads, etc.).

Smartphones & tablets

You can use Cloud Backup on your work phones and tablets to back up photos taken on the devices or to access files already on the Cloud wherever you are.

To get started, install the app from the Apple App Store or Google Play - you can find it by searching for 'Currys Cloud Backup'.

When you've got it, open the app and log in using the same email and password you use for your computer. Then turn on Mobile Backup to start protecting the photos on that device.

Add extra folders

If you would like to back up other folders on your colleague's devices, please follow these steps:

  • Open the Desktop software
  • Go to “Settings” on the left hand menu
  • Click on “Backup Selection” and then click the top section “Add another folder..”
  • This will show you the folders on your device, find the one you want to backup and click “Add”.

Restoring your files from Cloud Backup for Business

Whether you've accidentally saved over a file, or you've got a new computer and you need to recover everything, this page takes you through what to do.

You and your colleagues can use the following instructions to recover files from their accounts using the Desktop software:

  1. Tap “Restore” at the top of the Desktop app. To restore lost files from an old or damaged computer, click from Backup. If you saved your files directly to the Cloud, press from Online drive.
  2. You'll see a list of all the devices you've backed up from. Click “View Files” to browse all the folders you backed up.
  3. Find the file or folder you want to recover and press “Restore”.
  4. Choose the period you want to recover files from:
    • “The latest version of all files” selection is the last time they were backed up. If you're recovering data to a new computer, this is the easiest option.
    • “The most recent version of all files on…” selection will let you choose older versions of files. This is great if your computer had a virus or you accidentally saved over files a while ago.
  5. Decide where on your computer you want to restore the file to. If you're recovering to a new computer, you'll need to choose a new location.
  6. If you're recovering a folder, you'll be asked what to do about files that already exist on your computer:
    • Skip files won't recover files that already exist.
    • Keep the newest files makes sure that you have the latest versions and won't replace them if the backup is older. Don't use this if your computer has had a virus.
    • Overwrite anyway replaces any existing files with the backup. Use this if you're recovering your computer after a virus attack.
  7. The “Restore Progress” screen shows you how long the restoration will take and how well it's doing.
  8. When it finishes, press “Click to open report” to see which files were restored. You can press “View restored files” to open them on your computer too.

Make your first Secure VPN connection

Don't get caught with your guard down - here's how to make you and your colleague's next website visit secure and private on a Computer, Mobile or Tablet:

  • Open the Currys Secure VPN app on your devices and log in using the same email and password you used to register.
  • To connect to the optimal server for your location and make your browsing secure and private, just click the “Connect” button on the main home screen.
  • To connect through other locations, click “Locations” in the menu and select from over 150 locations.

Additional features

SecureVPN includes some additional features in our settings menu that protect you and your colleagues while browsing:

  • Kill Switch – this will instantly block internet traffic if the VPN connection drops, preventing data leaks. Please note this means your internet will not work when Kill Switch is turned on and Currys SecureVPN Desktop app is open.
  • Threat Protection – this blocks annoying ads and malicious websites when you are connected to the VPN.
  • Split Tunneling – this allows you to route some apps/websites through our VPN and others directly through your standard internet connection. You can choose only your work-related websites/apps to pass through the secure VPN tunnel while casual internet access like news and videos bypass the VPN.
